Project Brief

When this Indian family purchased their newly built home in Shinfield Meadow, Reading UK, it was pristine and completely characterless. White walls, standard finishes, no emotional depth.

Two busy professionals with two young children, they wanted colour and personality but felt overwhelmed by endless choices and had no time to coordinate design decisions or manage trades.

They didn’t need decoration. They needed clarity, confidence and a strategic process that would transform their home without adding stress to their lives.

Colour defines zones without closing the space. The burgundy kitchen ceiling creates intimacy and focus, while teal panelling introduces flow and continuity.

The open-plan layout now feels curated, not exposed.

• Colour Psychology

Burgundy anchors and grounds. Teal restores clarity and balance. Mustard accents inject optimism without overstimulation.

Botanical greens lower visual stress and reconnect the family to nature — because healing is not optional.

• Biophilic Integration

Structured greenery was integrated across key sightlines. Natural textures and organic materials soften architectural edges.

• Lighting

Harsh glare was removed and replaced with calibrated, warm illumination. Daylight is maximised during working hours; evenings feel cocooning and restorative.

The atmosphere now supports their rhythm instead of competing with it.
