Modern Family Home
A newly built house transformed into a bold, nature-connected sanctuary for a high-achieving international family. From impersonal white canvas to emotionally intelligent architecture.
This home now restores energy, amplifies identity and supports everyday life.
Project Brief
When this Indian family purchased their newly built home in Shinfield Meadow, Reading UK, it was pristine and completely characterless. White walls, standard finishes, no emotional depth.
Two busy professionals with two young children, they wanted colour and personality but felt overwhelmed by endless choices and had no time to coordinate design decisions or manage trades.
They didn’t need decoration. They needed clarity, confidence and a strategic process that would transform their home without adding stress to their lives.
Customer Review
“We instantly felt reassured about Nicla’s process. She walked us through her approach room by room, listening carefully to our preferences and turning them into a clear vision. She transformed our random requests into two thoughtful mood boards and never overwhelmed us with too many design choices.
We would not have achieved such beautiful results without Nicla — her design sense and the way she balances her ideas with what the client wants is an absolute delight. We have loved working with Nicla.”

Project Outcomes
This home now works as intentionally as the family who lives in it.
Bold colour and biophilic principles are woven together to create calm, clarity and expressive warmth.
What once felt neutral and disconnected now feels grounded, energised and deeply aligned with their identity.
• Spatial Strategy
Colour defines zones without closing the space. The burgundy kitchen ceiling creates intimacy and focus, while teal panelling introduces flow and continuity.
The open-plan layout now feels curated, not exposed.
• Colour Psychology
Burgundy anchors and grounds. Teal restores clarity and balance. Mustard accents inject optimism without overstimulation.
Botanical greens lower visual stress and reconnect the family to nature — because healing is not optional.
• Biophilic Integration
Structured greenery was integrated across key sightlines. Natural textures and organic materials soften architectural edges.
This isn’t about adding plants. It’s about strategic intervention that supports wellbeing.
• Lighting
Harsh glare was removed and replaced with calibrated, warm illumination. Daylight is maximised during working hours; evenings feel cocooning and restorative.
The atmosphere now supports their rhythm instead of competing with it.
• Function
Every decision balances elegance with durability. Circulation flows easily, storage remains discreet and materials are family-proof.
Luxury here means peace of mind.
