Bedroom Retreat

From neutral and forgettable to a deep, cocooning bedroom designed for calm, elegance, and evening wind-down.

Designed for an Italian couple living in Reading, UK. One partner was struggling with insomnia, so the goal was a bedroom that felt instantly calming after stressful days at work.

Project Brief

The existing room lacked depth and identity. While functional, it did not provide the sense of refuge the clients needed at the end of demanding days.

The design brief therefore focused on creating a cocooning retreat that would encourage relaxation, improve sleep quality and support overall wellbeing, while still feeling elegant and quietly bold.

Customer Review

“From the moment we saw the first images of our blue bedroom design, we knew we were in the hands of someone truly special. Nicla didn’t just decorate a room, she transformed it into a sanctuary. Before working with Nicla, our bedroom never truly felt restful and switching off after intense workdays was a real challenge. What she created is more than a redesign, it’s a cocoon. For the first time in years, our bedroom genuinely supports our sleep and wellbeing. It’s elegant, personal, and profoundly restorative.”

Project Outcomes

The transformation reimagined the bedroom as a deeply restorative and emotionally grounding retreat. Once a neutral, forgettable space, it now envelops the occupants in a cocooning atmosphere where colour, texture and light work together to encourage calm and quiet the mind at the end of the day.

The deep blue palette introduces visual depth while promoting relaxation, softened by warm natural materials and layered textiles that add comfort and intimacy. The result is a refined balance between bold design and tranquillity — a space that feels personal, soothing and quietly luxurious, designed to support rest, wellbeing and everyday renewal.
